The wedding weekend will take place in Stockholm’s northern archipelago, in the outskirts of the small town “Norrtälje”, situated about 50 minutes north of Stockholm

Traveling to Stockholm

Traveling from abroad, Stockholm is easiest reached by flying to Arlanda Airport (ARN), which is located ~40 minutes north of Stockholm City Center, and about ~60 minutes west of the wedding location

Getting to and from the airport is easiest via the fast train (www.arlandaexpress.se), via taxi (www.taxistockholm.se), or by bus (such as flygbussarna).

Depending on your travel schedule, you can choose to spend time in Stockholm either before or after the wedding, since it’s only a ~60 minute drive away.

Getting from Stockholm to the wedding location is either via rental car (e.g., Avis, Hertz, …), by taxi (www.taxistockholm.se) or via public transportation bus (www.sl.se; buss 676 goes from Stockholm to Norrtälje every 15/30 minutes).

Friday | Staying near Solö

On Friday, August 16th, we are optionally hosting all guests at our summer house on the island Solö för a relaxed afternoon and early evening. The house is accessible by car (without a need to take a car ferry), about 15 minutes from Norrtäle and 55 minutes from Stockholm. There is a bus stop right in from of the house.

If you plan on joining, we’d recommend staying in the Norrtälje region to minimize travel that night.

Here are our favorite options:

Marholmen

Marholmen is one of our favorite excursion place . It hosts a hotel, cabins, camp grounds, spa, beaches, and lots of activities - such as a playground, mini golf, and rental boats and other water toys.

Aside from hotel rooms, they also rent out cabins (most common with 3 bedrooms), “glamping” tents and RV spots.

It is located ~5 minutes from our house and ~20 minutes from where our boat will depart on Saturday. Depending on how many people stay here, we may be able to organize transportation on Friday and Saturday.

Private cabins

Scandinavians (especially Swedes) have the highest rate of secondary homes (typically very simple and useable in summer weather only), which also creates a sizeable market for homeowner-led cabin rentals.

If you are planning to stay a few days longer in the region, renting a cabin is a great options, and besides the global alternative of Airbnb, a local option is stugknuten.

In terms of cabin locations, anywhere around Norrtälje, Solö or Gräddö are great.

Åtellet

Norrtälje is a small city that really blooms during the summer. So if want to stay close to the wedding venues, while still having a bit of “city pulse”, this is a great option. The hotel is located in the very center of Norrtälje, right on the water (the name “Åtellet” is a play on “Å”, which means “river”).

The hotel is ~15 minutes from our house in Solö, and about ~20 minutes from where the boat departs from on Saturday.

Other

If you want to join the Friday festivities, but prefer to spend the night in Stockholm, rental cars, taxis or local buses will be transportation options (travel time ~1 hour).

If you want to explore Stockholm, we’d recommend staying in the city center. The most popular areas are

  • Norrmalm / City (downtown)

  • Gamla Stan (the historic old city)

  • Östermalm (slightly east of the city center; more residential and upscale)

  • Söder (slightly south of the city center; more young and vibrant)

Feel free to reach out to us, if we can help with any additional guidance!

Saturday | Staying on Lidö Island

About the location and the concept

For the evening of our wedding (August 17th), we have blocked all accommodation on the island for our wedding guests.

Ever since we caught the first glimpse of Lidö, we fell in love with this Swedish summer dream and could not think of a better place to celebrate our wedding at.

Lidö is a traditional Swedish island that can only be used in summer months (/ days 😉) and hence comes with rather simple accommodation… we call it “mysigt” 😊 This includes fairly rustic cabins and shared bathrooms.

Should you like to spend the night on the island, please do indicate so in the RSVP and we will get back to you once we can confirm your stay.

Please see below what rooms exist - in case you have a preference for a room type, feel free to indicate so in your RSVP. But please keep in mind that, in order to fit everyone on the island, we may not be able to meet all wishes… we will make it up to you with drinks and fun at the wedding . Promise.

Rooms will vary in price, but will on average by ~1000 SEK per person, incl. breakfast.

May you choose to come by boat (looking at you, our dear Swedish guests <3), you can also choose to stay in the Lidö guest harbor.

Accommodations on the mainland

Shall you prefer to return to your hotel, vacation rental, RV, home… on the mainland, you can just book a taxi boat back to Rävsnäs. Prices are usually around 800 SEK and can take up to 6 passengers (can vary by provider)

Examples of Lidö Island Accommodations

  • Zero Cabins

  • Glamping

Once RSVPs are collected and we know how many are staying on Lidö, we’ll allocate rooms and get back to you
